Construction and Materials
RoyOMartin is a fabricator specializing in engineered wood products. Their expertise extends to Glued Laminated Timber (Glulam) and pilings, showcasing a commitment to high-quality wood construction solutions.
Glulam, a cornerstone of RoyOMartin's offerings, is a structural product manufactured by bonding together individual pieces of dimension lumber with durable, waterproof adhesives. This process allows for the creation of wood members that are significantly larger, stronger, and straighter than solid sawn timber. The lumber used in Glulam production is typically kiln-dried to a specific moisture content, which helps to ensure dimensional stability and minimize potential for warping, twisting, or checking.
The materials used in Glulam construction are carefully selected for their strength, durability, and structural integrity. High-quality lumber, often from sustainably managed forests, forms the basic building blocks. The adhesives employed are specifically designed for structural wood applications, providing a bond that is as strong, if not stronger, than the wood itself. These adhesives are also formulated to withstand environmental conditions, ensuring the longevity and reliability of the finished Glulam beams and columns.
The fabrication process involves precise grading and selection of lumber before it is laminated. This meticulous approach ensures that each Glulam member meets rigorous structural performance requirements. The resulting engineered wood products offer a compelling alternative to steel and concrete in many construction applications, providing the aesthetic appeal of wood with enhanced structural capabilities. RoyOMartin's fabrication capabilities allow them to produce custom Glulam members tailored to the specific needs of a project, whether it be for commercial buildings, bridges, or other large-scale structures.
In addition to Glulam, RoyOMartin also fabricates pilings. These are typically heavy-duty structural members designed for deep foundation applications. The construction of pilings involves the use of strong, durable wood species that are treated to resist decay and insect attack, ensuring their performance in demanding subsurface environments. The fabrication process for pilings focuses on ensuring their strength, straightness, and load-bearing capacity for critical infrastructure projects.
